FAIRPORT'S CROPREDY CONVENTION 2008

Fairport Convention have been frequenting the small village of Cropredy, near Oxford, annually since the 1970s bringing an extravaganza of electric folk and soft rock with them.

Fairport Convention have been frequenting the small village of Cropredy, near Oxford, annually since the 1970s bringing an extravaganza of electric folk and soft rock with them.   

The festival has been growing steadily over the years and the 2007 event was a sell out with 20,000 revellers in attendance. The traditional highlight is Fairport Convention's four-hour Saturday night headline set and last year the original 1969 incarnation of the band performed their defining album 'Liege & Lief'.

Around 30 acts perform at the three-day event with bars well-stocked with lagers, ciders, wine, soft drinks and a good selection of real ales. There is no backstage bar so you may be rubbing shoulders with a famous star.

The festival site includes a well managed campsite and good facilities for the disabled, including a well-sited viewing platform. You can even park your car next to your tent, however if you wish to camp with friends or family you must meet up somewhere off-site and drive in together as spaces cannot be saved.less
