SOCO SOCIAL MARDI GRAS 2008

Cargo, London will be housing the first ever SoCo Social Mardi Gras Festival and it is set to bring with it the legendary carnival atmosphere that has made the New Orleans street party infamous.

Mardi Gras is traditionally the final blow-out before the beginning of Lent and thousands of revellers take to the streets in extravagant costumes. They follow massive musical processions that fill the city with the iconic sounds of New Orleans' jazz, funk and soul.

Cargo, London will be housing the first ever SoCo Social Mardi Gras Festival and it is set to bring with it the legendary carnival atmosphere that has made the New Orleans street party infamous.

Mardi Gras is traditionally the final blow-out before the beginning of Lent and thousands of revellers take to the streets in extravagant costumes. They follow massive musical processions that fill the city with the iconic sounds of New Orleans' jazz, funk and soul.

James Lavelle and Unabombers will be providing the beats in London with authentic bands from New Orleans bringing a real taste of the carnival too. Revellers are also invited to dress up in masks and beads to join a Mardi Gras procession through the streets of Shoreditch.

Southern Comfort (SoCo) will be taking over the month of February with parties across the country and there will also be SoCo Social Mardi Gras parties in Manchester (21 Feb) and Glasgow (29 Feb).
