Well done to the boys at Glastonbury's B.B.Q. Pizza stall, not only did they offer possibly the
most mouth-watering cuisine at ashamedly low prices (Festival caterers take note: a burger and dry bap does not constitute
a £4 hearty meal!), and not only had most of them never been near a tent, hippy, or a festival, but a majority of their profit
(did they make any at those prices?) went to helping orphaned elephants in Kenya .... honestly!!!
Rajan Gudka is the mastermind, or rather whip-cracker behind the good ship B.B.Q. Pizza Stall. He was quite shocked at the size of Glastonbury and told us: "Of course I knew about Glastonbury, but man this place is f*cking huge, I can't believe it!"
But why Rajan, why? "We had these traditional Kenyan charcoal ovens that were passed down from relatives, so we fired them up one day and started making the Pizza's. All of our mates loved it when they came round for BBQ's so I thought that we had to take it to the masses." What better place to try out a new idea than the little back yard affair that is Glastonbury.
By mid-Sunday the queues for B.B.Q Pizza were bigger than the queues for the ladies toilets, and the team were throwing around pizza bases better than Tom Cruise could wang bottles of Bacardi!
The BBQ boys did well enough being festie virgins, but then, and this really isn't out of a comic book, they give some of their money away to help orphaned elephants!? "Me and my Sister have been going back and forth to Kenya since we were little and were introduced to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, they are basically dedicated to the protection and preservation of Africa's Wilderness and its denizens, particularly endangered species such as elephants and Black Rhino. So we adopted some, and now every festival we take the B.B.Q. Pizza Stall to we are going to adopt a new animal" Beat that Chris Martin.
Can you think of any more worthy winners? Neither can we!
The B.B.Q Pizza stall will more than likely be at a host of festivals next season so go down and enjoy some of their awesome, bargain priced pizzas and do a little something to help save the world's species at the same time.
