Please note, you will need Windows Media Player to view the clip, which is about 3.5megs and optimised for a broadband connection.
Whatever your views on the rights and wrongs of the aerial assault directed at 50 Cent
and his G Unit during their headline warm-up slot on the Sunday night of the Reading Festival 2004, the
video makes for compelling viewing. The footage was shot on a mobile phone handset, hence the low resolution.
There's perhaps
no need to feel too sorry for him, though. Obviously anticipating the aerial onslaught, 50 Cent timed his inevitable escape
from stage 15 minutes and one second into his performance - the minimum contracted time artists have to be on stage in order
to get paid!
After surviving several shootings, you could say this was a walk (and a duck and a swerve) in the park.
The look on his face says otherwise though! Have a feeling we won't be seeing him in this country for some time - not at a
festival anyway.
The soundtrack comes, appropriately enough, courtesy of new UK rockers The Backlash, "Blow
the Doors Off" (c) 2004. Email steve@thebacklash.co.uk for a free copy
of their forthcoming EP!
