Magical Moments @ Glastonbury 2005

United Kingdom United Kingdom | | 02 July 2005

"I sat down to write about each day of the festival and realised that I can't. How can words possibly describe the most amazing, most enlightening and happiest feelings that you have ever experienced in your life? And before people start - my drug intake was one joint all festival. I was high on the Glastonbury atmosphere and spirit! I am still wearing my glasto perma-smile. All I can say is that I recommend that you go once in your life." - Gary Tear, VF member

A Happy Birthday!

"On Thursday, I celebrated my 17th birthday, and at midnight on Wedsday I went to the stone circle with my mates and sat with some random yet very friendly people. Those around me started singing Happy Birthday and very quickly the whole field joined in! it was honestly the most amazing experience of my life (no i wasn't even high) and I will never ever forget it. What made it even better was the fact that the next day it was in the Q Glastonbury Daily's hot or not section. it really made my festival!" - 'StirFriedBanana', VF Member

Excited Goblins

"Thursday evening, just off the Circus Arena: A cyber-goth in the largest pair of metal boots ever made walks past a bunch of goblins dressed in sacks and mumbles something incomprehensible. The goblins all point at him and go 'woo!' Units of alcohol consumed at this point = zero." - Ruth Booth, VF Writer

Lost Vagueness

"Had the most amazing experience as we stumbled out of lost vagueness ballroom at about 5am monday morning. There was a guy sat playing 'Imagine' on the upright piano, which was lovely, but then he played the most beautiful version of 'Karma Police... There were about 10 of us there and a guy was filming it... Does anybody know who he is, as he now has 2 fans and it was an proper Glastonbury moment? It would be lovely to see the footage to hear him again" - 'Skippinder', VF Member

Silent Disco

"Described by Emily Eavis as a 'novelty attraction' for the festival, the dance event designed to beat the sound curfew proved it was much more than that. With two DJs onstage providing different soundtracks to the night that ranged from LCD Soundsystem to AC/DC, Yoko Ono and Algerian pop, we managed to gain access before the headphones ran out, lost our minds and danced until the sun came up!" - Laura Foster, VF Crew

Lost and Found

"Unfortunately I lost my wallet near the dance stage on Thursday evening. Luckily my friends were great and lent me money all through the weekend.
Come Sunday, when I was listening to the great Brian Wilson, I decided to take the half hour journey to Lost Property. I sat down and a kind lady took my details. She came back after 5 minutes with my wallet in her hand!
I could not believe it when she told me all £160 of my money was still in it together with my bank card. The lady mentioned that this normally happens due to the kind of people that visit Glastonbury. It was a great walk back to my friends with my wallet in my hands listening to Good Vibrations in the background. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the person who handed it to the security guard and also to the security guard for handing it in. It restored my faith in how kind people can be. I think that is just Glastonbury in a nutshell." - Nick Howell, VF member

"Just wanted to say thanks to the lady from Birmingham who found my pink bag in the loos. She phoned everyone on my mobile 'til she managed to get in touch with my hubbie who she then met and gave my bag too. My faith in human nature is restored. All the tickets, my phone, money etc. were all still in there. She saved my life. Thanks again "- Amanda from Doncaster, VF member

"on the last night Ilost my free Guardian Guide and ticket in Lost Vagueness. Not exactly essential, but they would have been nice souvenirs. So imagine my shock on Tuesday morning when I opened my mail and in one letter was said guide and ticket!
So I just wanted to say thank you to the anonymous person who spent their own time and money giving me another memory from Glastonbury even when it had finished!" - 'HeavenInATeapot' - VF member
