Last call for new bands to open V Festival
United Kingdom | |
06 April 2006
Road to V, organised by V Festival sponsor Virgin Mobile, is currently in its third year. Last year saw The Young Knives beat off stiff competition to win the contest,
and the band have since stormed their way into the national top 40 and the MTV2 video charts. With
a handful of festival dates on their itinerary this year, they are well on their way to becoming one of the hottest bands
in the UK and this is the chance for you (or anyone you know who is in a great band) to do the same.
But time is of the essence, as the closing date for entries is this coming Monday (10th April). To enter, bands
simply need to log-on to www.roadtov.com where they can upload their tracks, and music
lovers will be able to review and vote for their favourites. From the entries, 14 bands will be then be short listed to compete
for their place on the Road to V. If that's not exciting enough, these 14 acts will then play gigs at Islington or Liverpool
Carling Academy in May which will be filmed for broadcast on Channel 4 (and covered on Virtual Festivals) in the 10 weeks
leading up to V Festival from mid June.
If you're not in a band but think you have an ear for talent, you can also vote for your favourite bands and guarantee
them a spot in the finals online at www.roadtov.com.
Go for it!
