Boy Kill Boy on the Carling Weekend

Returning to the Carling Weekend for the second year running, Boy Kill Boy play the NME/Radio 1 Stage on Friday, 25 August, at Leeds and on Sunday, 27 August, at Reading.

Never ones to lig it up backstage, the band say they'll be out and about, getting stuck in and checking out as many great bands as possible - and they've given VF an exclusive insight into their predicted highlights.

So if you're currently agonising over the best rock lineup of the summer, read on for Boy Kill Boy's tips on who to see and what to do...

Best Headliner...
Muse
They're just an awesome live band who put on a really good show. For just three guys on stage the sound they get is massive. We've seen them a few times and we're all fans. It'll be mind blowing. 

Band to dance to...
The Rakes
They're a good band and good lads with good beats. They're a Boy Kill Boy favourite so we'll hopefully get to pop out the front for a little singalong and a dance.

Band to rock out to...
Wolfmother
It's just full-on, balls out rock'n'roll. Say no more.

Band to wake up to...
Forward Russia and The Long Blondes. We played with both bands on the NME new bands tour a few months back and they were both really good. Forward Russia are more of a hectic noisy blast of energy, while The Long Blondes have a decent bunch of songs and a star in singer Kate.

Band most likely to cause a riot...
The Cribs
These guys are great, we played with them in Leeds a while ago and it really kicked off. The crowd were well up for it and Ryan the singer managed, as usual, to rip his face apart on the microphone.

The band you haven't seen but can't wait to...
Good Shoes
I haven't heard much of their stuff yet, but I like the name and 'Small Town Girl' was a cool song. So I'll try and head over to catch their set.

Surprise festival hit...
Little Man Tate
I've not actually heard any of their stuff but loads of people have told me they're really good live with really good songs punctuating what's almost a stand up comedy routine. Should be good.

Comeback band...
Slayer
They're one of those bands you've got to go and have a look at. They could well be rubbish, but have to be worth a look. It's kind of like a freak show.

All eyes will be on…
Kaiser Chiefs
It'll be interesting to see if they play any of their new songs. I'm sure they'll do a 'greatest hits' set, but it'd be cool to get an idea what the next album might have in store.

Band that deserve to be higher up the bill...

Tim Ten Yen 
He's played a few gigs with us and does a great live show featuring Tim, a backing track and sinister cat. Highly recommended, and really disappointing that he'll be playing the opposite sites to us when we play. If you don't like Franz Ferdinand go and check him out on the Cabaret Stage.
Peaches
You're guaranteed an interesting show.
Klaxons
They seem to have stepped into the breach left by the demise of Test Icicles. I reckon live they'll be pretty entertaining.
Good Books
I saw the end of their set at White Heat and regretted not getting their earlier.
Broken Social Scene
I've heard a couple of songs and they're pretty good. Also, if you get a good spot near the front you'll be well placed for watching our set straight afterwards!
