With it currently raining in similar fashion to that fateful, fantastic August weekend, we thought it a suitable time to present you with Virgin Mobile's exclusive Road To V podcast.

Capturing all the action from the heavily contested comp, in which thousands of bands fought it out for the opportunity to open the 2006 V Festival, you might even pick up some tips for winning it next year!

The Young Knives and 10,000 Things won the Road To V competition last year and they've both shot to fame, free booze and fortune - full-on festival stardom in the case of the former, playing Ian Curtis in new Joy Division film 'Control' if you're lead singer of the latter.

But what will become of this year's victors Bombay Bicycle Club and Keith?

According to a Virgin Mobile spokesperson: "Last year’s winners, The Young Knives, got their big break thanks to Road to V. And we’re darn sure that this year’s winners, Keith and Bombay Bicycle Club will be following in their footsteps.

"It took more than a bit of rain to dampen the mood as they rocked the stage at the mighty V Festival."

So there you have it. Expect to see both bands at V Festival next year and you and your band could be performing there too! Visit www.roadtov.com to find out how.
