Islington on Friday is headlined by one of 2005's best new prospects, The Pipettes and Spanish superstars Dover, the line-up also features Anotherstory, hand-picked from obscurity as a measure of their natural quality. They join Early Year, another top new band you will hear much from soon. Gods Of The Radio open with an acoustic set and expect a very special unannounced extra guest, too.

Bands who want to play should get their people to call Hedonistic's via a CD in the post; see clubhedonistic.com Look at the archive and only get in touch if you're truly good enough.

With music so close to the hearts of so many people, it makes sense partnering Club Hednostic with Oxfam, opening up more ears to their ongoing work. Fans will have the opportunity to get involved by signing up to petitions and learn more about their life-changing work to fight poverty and make trade fair. There will also be the opportunity to donate money to Oxfam on the night.

Nat Perkings, Oxfam's Music Projects Coordinator said: "Club Hedonistic is a great independent showcase, very much in line with how we think. We hope that even more quality bands will come and play the night and help support our campaigns."

VF's Andrew Future, who runs Club Hedonistic said: "We've seen some top performances as the night's built up steam over the last year and it's great that we can help raise awareness for Oxfam through doing something that's so naturally enoyable - music."

BAND INFORMATION:

The Pipettes
Angels in polka-dot dresses, The Pipettes beautiful harmonics and charismatic post-fem lyrics make them one of the most genuine pop propositions in years. Somewhere between The Shangrilas and The Teddy Bears, with a truly unique sense of melody and a truly inimitable stage presence. Surely one of their last shows in a small venue?

Dover
From Madrid, Dover may be unknowns in the UK, but in Europe they've sold over a million records. How? Because they do instantly loveable, cosmically charged rock 'n roll and they have quite an amazing front-girl in the way of Cristina. After four albums, they're finally making their UK debut. Do not miss this.

Anotherstory
An unsigned five-piece from deepest Essex, Anotherstory don't wear hoodies or talk laaak viss, instead, they make instant, intricate and highly intelligent music lying somewhere between the funked up twists of Incubus and the curious angular rock of Biffy Clyro. With a similar beauty to the Scandinavian outfit Mew, Anotherstory are quite unlike any band around right now and it's our pleasure to unveil them to the masses. A&Rs, please form an orderly queue at the back.

Early Year
Original, devoted, intelligent, stubborn, independent and reluctant to categorise their music, Early Year are committed to being heard, and to entertaining, whether it's live or through their records.  After two years in the making, Early Year are embarking on a new stage in their development. Their sound? A complex yet beautiful of electronics and acoustics, emotional, stirring and often astonishing.

Gods Of The Radio
From the ashes of Ghost Of The Robot rises Gods Of The Radio. Hailing from Santa Monica, California, they do massive, quite orchestral sun-drenched rock 'n roll. Stripped down for an exclusive acoustic set, Steven Sellers and Ashley Winters will be playing tunes from their debut, self-titled album.

Club Hedonistic has become an established part of London's new music scene during the last year, promoting the best rising talent alongside unsigned bands. No egos, no pay-to-play nonsense and no profits to be made. Just a guaranteed full house and great bands. It's all for the love of music. Last month's packed out show featured Pure Reason Revolution, Seachange and the monumental debut of Rises. Other breaking acts to have dazzled the night include Editors, The Boxer Rebellion, Echelon and The Boyfriends, who are all set to play Glasto this year.

Oxfam GB is a development, relief, and campaigning organisation that works with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering around the world. More at www.oxfam.org.uk

Oxfam believes that in a world rich in resources, poverty is an injustice which must and can be overcome.

MAKE POVERTY HISTORY
Make Poverty History is the UK part of the global campaign, the Global Call to Action Against Poverty and is made up of a unique alliance of charities, trade unions, campaigning groups, faith communities and high profile individuals who are uniting to tackle global poverty in 2005.

The campaign is calling on world leaders to tackle the underlying causes of poverty by delivering three things: trade justice, debt cancellation and more and better aid. Politicians respond to public pressure, Oxfam has shown this time and time again. People can really make a difference and help improve the lives of poor people across the world by:

- joining the campaign and getting more info at the event or at www.oxfam.org.uk/generationwhy

- wearing a white band, the symbol of the campaign

You can get your white band for £1 from any Oxfam shop, online at www.makepovertyhistory.org, or by texting BAND to 87099 (cost of text is £1.50 for initial message plus your standard text rates)
