Tyler James was due to play the opening slot on JJB/Puma Stage on Saturday 20 August at Weston Park, Staffordshire, and Sunday 21 August at Hylands Park, Chelmsford.
The honour now falls to VF favourites Bronze Age Fox, whose singer Dominic Jones said: "We are very much looking forward to blowing the cobwebs out of the ears of the happy V festival goers. It's a real honour to have been asked to play the V Festival and great to be the first band on such an exciting stage. We hope the V crowd like the new Bristol sound."
V Festival Director Bob Angus added: "We were sorry to hear that Tyler James has had to pull out but equally delighted that Bronze Age Fox have stepped in. I am very confident that Bronze Age Fox will not disappoint fans and look forward to watching them perform!"
