The New York band were chosen by organiser Rob Da Bank after he was impressed by their live performances. Those who saw them at Lovebox will know what he means.
The Bestival
curator said: "I’ve been chasing Gogol Bordello since
Christmas to do Bestival and finally bribed and cajoled them to move recording commitments. We are really, really pleased
they are headlining the Friday night. They’re easily the most exciting live band I’ve seen in 2006."
Mercury-prize nominated indie act Guillemots have also been added to the bill and will play just before
Saturday headliners Pet Shop Boys.
Seminal 90s dance act Future Sound of London
are also confirmed to headline the Blue Pavilion.
Other acts booked for the third Bestival include Scissor Sisters, Mystery Jets, Sasha, Mark Ronson, Lily Allen, The Stranglers, King Creosote, Dehendra Banhart, Klaxons and many more.
