'Local Heroes' Festival Tour Gears Up
United Kingdom | |
10 August 2006
From local heroes, to online phenomena, to live final champions, the two winners of our nationwide competition to find the UK's best unsigned bands have now got the small matter of winning over the most discerning critics of all - festival audiences!
Having wowed fans and judges alike during the first ever Local Heroes contest, Merla and Rob McCulloch begin their festival tour prize at the sold-out Summer Sundae, which takes place this weekend (11-13 August).
The competition's outright winner, Merla, will play at 4.15pm on Friday on the Indoor Stage, while runner-up, Rob McCulloch, will perform at 12.30pm on Saturday on the Musician Acoustic Stage.
Third placed band Intervurt are also playing a festival this weekend. They play Bulldog Bash in Stratford-on-Avon.
After being voted winners of their regions by fans via the online platform www.lheroes.co.uk, all three bands were invited to a live final in London.
A panel of judges was assembled to find the bands best suited for festivals and after a difficult but unanimous decision Merla and Rob McCulloch won through, with Intervurt in third.
The two winners will now go on to play Secret Garden, Get Loaded In The Park and Beautiful Days.
