Scissor Sisters For Free London Gig

| 18 August 2006

The gig will take place on Saturday, 16 September, from 6pm, with tickets being distributed by an online and text draw.

Money generated from fans applying for the tickets will go to the Global Fund, which raises cash to fight AIDS and tubercolosis.

The show has also been organised to promote a new mobile phone. According to the press release, its purpose is: "To promote the red MOTOSLVR – the first Motorola handset created to contribute to the fight against AIDS in Africa (£10 from each sale goes to the fund), and to celebrate Scissor Sisters’ hugely anticipated second album ‘Ta-dah’".

By sheer coincidence, 'Ta-day' is being released two days later.

The event is being endorsed by London Mayor Ken Livingston.

Music lovers can get their hands on tickets by sending an SMS text to 80855* with the word MOTORED from 9am Friday 18 August.

The cost of the text will be £1.50 plus standard network charges with all profits going direct to the Global Fund.

There will be 4,500 recipients of a pair of exclusive tickets - chosen at random.
