Big Day Out hits the road again!
Australia | |
31 October 2002
After a problematic
2001 event (where a teenage girl died in a crush during Limp Bizkit's performnce), Big Day Out 2002 received great acclaim
from the audience, bands, media and even the authorities, attracting over 220,000 people, with three sell out shows (Gold
Coast, Sydney and Melbourne).
Big Day Out 2003 will hit the following cities:
17th
January 2003: Auckland Ericsson Stadium, NZ
19th January 2003: Gold Coast Parklands
25th
January 2003: Sydney Showground
27th January 2003: Melbourne RAS Showgrounds
31st
January 2003: Adelaide, Royal Showground
February 2nd 2003: Perth Claremont Showgrounds
The festival has already
secured an impressive array of talent from around the globe. Over the next few months these first acts will be joined by many
more international and local artists. From far away shores, the Big Day Out 2003 lineup boasts the Foo Fighters, the mighty QUEENS OF THE STONEAGE and the hyper dynamic DEFTONES.
Direct from
the U.K, The Music and Big Day Out favourite PJ Harvey will be enjoying the sunshine. Also on the Big Day Out 2003 bill are Americana
exponents WILCO and Swedish punk rock kings MILLENCOLIN who make their Big Day Out debut
along with German based art-rock trio CHICKS ON SPEED. The musically daring LUKE SLATER
returns to bump up the BPM's. And in their first full tour of Australia the legendary KRAFTWERK will show
how it's really done when they perform in the Boiler Room.
Joining them from the home frontier will be some of Australia's finest exports. Gearing up for the release of a brand new album THE LIVING END will perform their first shows after a mini hiatus. And currently hotter than a firecracker THE VINES will make their Big Day Out debut alongside confirmed heavy hitters ROCKET SCIENCE, PACIFIER, FRENZAL RHOMB, THE HARD ONS, BEXTA (live), 28 DAYS, RESIN DOGS and 1200 TECHNIQUES.
