United Kingdom | |
04 July 2007
The film has been composed from over 160 hours of footage filmed over last year’s festival by Guildford based Production Company Flaming Pear and features performances by The Stranglers, The Lightning Seeds, Donovan, Nizlopi, Morning Runner, Stereo MCs, The Wonderstuff and Gary Numan, among others.
It documents the true festival experience in all its guises, including interviews with punters, live performances, video diaries and backstage interviews. Candid footage encapsulates the story of GuilFest 2006, depicting life on site and the full range of what a modern festival has to offer – from unsigned bands to the Silent Disco.
GUILFEST: GRASS ROOTS is a vibrant celebration of a quintessentially British music festival which has developed a cult following amongst passionate festival-goers. They describe it as a triumphant, down-to-earth, family-friendly festival. Despite attracting internationally renowned bands over 3 days, with 24,000 visitors a day, GuilFest remains as true to its roots in 2006 as it was in 1992 when 1500 attendees were entertained by folk bands, craft stalls and the local morris dancers.
More than just the music, the film offers "A portrait of a 21st century festival, colourfully illustrating why hundreds of thousands of people from around the world flock to enjoy the buoyant British festival scene."
