The August weekender has always placed firm emphasis on cutting edge music, art and multi-media, and is looking to expand
this year's event with the help of the ICA, Roundhouse, Underbelly
and the BFI.
London's ICA (the Institute of Contemporary Art) will
be screening a number of films, as well as brand new art and music commissions for the Big Chill Media Mix
area.
A new arena, the Big Round Tent, will be programmed by the Roundhouse,
featuring live performances and a workshop programme including radio broadcasts, film, songwriting, MC workshops, youth
Graffiti and photography projects.
The British Film Institute has also been drafted in and will
be screening outdoor films and other visual content, while Underbelly will be hosting a new comedy tent.
Other new feature for 2008 include include The Big Warm, featuring bonfires, story telling and song,
a more developed Words in Motion area and the Moonlit Picture House, a unique late night
cinema.
Organisers are also promising another bumper line up of new and established acts spanning chill out, jazz,
dub, dance, reggae, rock, pop and anything else that fits The Big Chill ethos.
Before all that
though, a number of showcase nights are taking place at London's Big Chill House venue, to give fans
an idea of what to expect. The first takes place on 7 February featuring Priorite A Gauche and The
Portico Quartet. Visit the official site
for more.
