Prince to headline Coachella Festival

10 April 2008
The 'Purple Rain' star will be joined by Portishead
and Kraftwerk on the Saturday night of the festival which takes place Empire Polo Field
in Indio, California from 25-27 April.
The ninth edition of the festival will also include appearances from The
Verve, Simian Mobile Disco, Fatboy Slim, Aphex Twin, Jack
Johnson and Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters who will be performing 'Dark Side Of The Moon'.
Prince’s inclusion on the line-up has added to
the speculation that he could be set to play his first ever British festival at this year’s Glastonbury,
replacing Jay-Z on the Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night (28
June).
Jay-Z is said to be disgruntled by suggestions
that he is to blame for the drop in the number of registrants signing up for the festival, and by the way his image has been
perceived on internet messageboards.
However Glastonbury organiser, Michael Eavis, recently
rubbished the rumours. He said: "I spoke to his people this weekend. Everything is fine. I’m excited."
