Gary Numan and more for The Magic Loungeabout

United Kingdom United Kingdom | | 14 April 2008

The electronic festival will feature performances from Morcheeba, The Egg and Pacific.

The Magic Loungeabout takes place at Newburgh Priory, North Yorkshire Moors National Park, on Saturday 30 August.

It promises to be a high-end event with guests feasting on picnic hampers and supping champagne throughout the day. Following a programme of live music and a cocktail hour, DJs will play through until around 3am.

Accommodation comes via a Yurt Village and there will be plenty for children as organisers attempt to position the Loungeabout as family friendly.

Promoter Simon Adamson said: “The Magic Loungeabout is the first 24-hour musical picnic in the UK which will offer a ‘grown-up’ way to enjoy contemporary, credible, live music. We are delighted to be hosting some fantastic names for our first event as we celebrate the very best of past and present electronic music.

"The idea is that most of our daytime acts will have derived their influences from our main headliner which creates a kind of musical narrative. In our first year our headline act is Gary Numan, which is perfect. And don’t worry about the toilets, we’ll have plenty of them and they’ll be clean!”

Tickets are on sale HERE priced £78 and children under-9 go free.

As most of us have just spent a fortune attending Gary Numan gigs, to pay so much (£78?) so soon afterwards is a bit too much. Shame as I would be up for this otherwise

If Numan was a worthy current artist I could understand the promoters taking the risk. Alas Mr DAT Numan is no longer a true star and you'll be lucky to sell a handful of tickets. He only does retro for the money to cover the losses he makes on the dirgy new stuff!
