Among the highlights of Sónar's night-time activities in the Montjuïc 2 venue are concerts by Björk on Friday 13 and Underworld
on Saturday 14, both of which have new material to unleash and stunning stage sets. Underworld's show will integrate the visual work of the Tomato team behind tracks from
all three of their albums released to date. Other artists on the 'Sónar by Night' roster are garage bad boys
Oxide & Neutrino, Aphex Twin, Laurent
Garnier, DJ Hell, Ladytron, TM Raumschmiere and Metro
Area DJ among others.
Matthew Herbert will headline the first night of Sónar by Night, on Thursday 12, in the Auditori de Barcelona in an attempt to broaden, reorientate and diversify the programme of the festival by adapting novel and exceptional musical proposals to new spaces within the city. The collaboration between the festival and the Auditori de Barcelona has been a first step in this direction. Matthew Herbert will appear live with a big band of 20 musicians with whom he recorded his latest album 'Goodbye Swingtime'. An exercise in which jazz forms and traditions are mixed and reconstructed at the hands of Herbert with the collaboration of Arto Lindsay, Jamie Lidell and Dani Siciliano.
'Sónar by Day' will once again present its five regular stages, SonarVillage, SonarLab,
SonarComplex, Sonarama and the Hall stage. Over the three days we will
be given the opportunity to discover some of the most innovative and amazing artists on the international electronic music
scene. In keeping with the broad scope that has always characterised the festival, the stylistic overview of this tenth edition
comprises the latest trends in electronica, hip-hop, house, indietronica, electro-pop, electronic jazz, microhouse, electro
and digital concretism, featuring names such as Tujiko Noriko, David Grubbs, Akufen, Jaga Jazzist, Schneider TM and Miss Kittin...
Some of the key participants in this year's showcases will be labels such as Anticon, Jazzland, Mego, Tomlab, Foehn and Mutek.
