Blissfields going back to its roots
United Kingdom | |
30 September 2008
The grass roots festival scooped the prestigious award at last year's ceremony, beating favourites like Summer Sundae and Secret Garden.
But Blissfields organisers were forced to scrap plans to defend their crown this year, after poor ticket sales forced it to cancel.
For 2008, they decided to expand their capacity and move to Matterley Bowl in Winchester, a location which has become the 'graveyard' of many a festival including Homelands and Hi:Fi.
Now, organisers have vowed a return to their roots by reviving the festival in its original home at Bradley Farm, near Arlsford in Hampshire, where it was founded in 2001.
Taking place between 3-5 July 2009, the festival will once again focus on keeping the ticket price down (just £35) and supporting the local music scene.
There will be a capacity of just 1000 people with four stages, including an open air main stage, big top, tractor stage and a hidden disco.
No bands have been confirmed as yet but we'll let you know as information becomes available.
