Shortlist announced for UK Festival Awards

The shortlists for this month's UK Festival Awards have been announced and fans now have one week to make a difference in a second round of voting.

Over 40,000 users have cast over 200,000 votes in the first bout of voting and the nominations long lists have now been cut to just ten festivals or five artists per shortlist.

End Of The Road Festival leads the chase with three nominations followed closely by a slew of festivals on two nominations, while Dizzee Rascal, Duffy, MGMT, The Ting Tings and The Verve all received two nods apiece.

11,000 of you cast your votes in the Best Major category leaving it up to Creamfields, Download, Glastonbury, Global Gathering, Leeds, Reading, T In The Park, either of the V Festivals or last year's winner Isle Of Wight Festival to take the honours.

As expected three times winner Bestival made the cut in the Best Medium-Sized category, but after a wet year they can expect tough competition from Beautiful Days, Glade Festival, Hydro Connect, Latitude, Lovebox Weekender, Rock Ness, The Big Chill, The Wickerman Festival and Wakestock (Abersoch).

2000 Trees Festival, Beach Break Live, Cambridge Folk Festival, End Of The Road Festival and Indie Tracks Festival will all contest for the Best Small gong against Larmer Tree Festival, Secret Garden Party, Standon Calling, Strummercamp and Summer Sundae Weekender, the festival that took the award in 2006.

In the best new festival nominations Vince Power's comeback events, Mighty Boosh Festival and Hop Farm Festival both made the cut but they face a difficult contest against Beachdown Festival, Bearded Theory, Camp Bestival, Festibelly, Offset Festival, The Limetree Festival, The Magic Loungeabout and the latest Wakestock offering, held at Blenheim Palace, making the shortlist.

There are another 16 categories for fans to vote and make a difference in including Best Dance Festival, Best Line-up, Grass Roots Festival Award, Family Festival Award, Best European Festival and the prestigious Best Toilets Award.

A slew of artists are also battling it out for recognition of their success this summer in categories including Best Headline, Rock, Pop, Dance, Urban and Feel-Good Acts, Anthem Of The Summer and Most Memorable Moment.

Those that have already voted in the UK Festival Awards are given a second chance to register their opinions again.
