It's official. It's been the best Glastonbury ever. Michael Eavis himself has endorsed the 2003 event as 'Perfect', in fine Pa Larkin style...

Despite a bit of rain the weather has been glorius, the peformances sensational, crime has been low, injuries have been few and far between and the atmosphere has been incredible. Eavis is brimming with confidence that the long term future of the festival has more chance of being secured following the success of the super fence and the reduction of crime in neighbouring villages. He has not received a single complaint so far from local residents, which is unprecedented in the history of Glastonbury.

Emily Eavis is delighted with the level of promotion of the Make Trade Fair campaign which has been heavily supported by festival goers who have been signing the petition day and night. The organisation is aiming for over one million signatures by the end of the festival.

The rumour mills have been busy over this weekend and the biggest scoop is that micro funk star Prince is set to headline next year on Sunday night. Let's hope that his distinctive appearance will help him avoid the same fate as Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie who was refused entry to the hospitality area and was only saved by the pleas of supermodel Kate Moss to Security. (Ironic, considering that the same 'Security' never checked our wristbands once! Then again, we weren't lurching around like a mad man on tartrazine a la Gillespie!)

Gruff Rhys, singer with the Super Furry Animals (last night's headliner on the Other Stage) was said to have been "elated to have made it on-site" following "the slowest police car chase known to man" through Pilton at 5am yesterday morning. Rhys was about to arrive on-site when the flashing lights came on behind him and he was pulled over and chucked "in the back on the van", accused of "stealing his own car"! Fortunately he was able to prove his rightful ownership and was released in time!

So it's almost over, all to quickly as ever, but the resounding success of this year's festival means that we can say with some confidence 'See you next year!!'
