Manchester In The City was originally set up by Factory Records label boss and Hacienda co-owner Tony Wilson in 1992 to premier up-and-coming and unsigned artists.

The event, which has seen several incarnations in Dublin, New York, Glasgow and Liverpool, has provided a platform for bands like Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, The Chemical Brothers and Coldplay before they hit the big time.

Over 60 acts appear across various venues around the city but the main focus is on the ITC Unsigned Showcase which takes place around the bars and clubs of Peter Street.

In The City also invites new DJs to spin tunes across the three days as well as holding panels and talks about the music industry. Organisers invite many key industry players to speak, scrutinize and search for the next big thing.less
